PUPULI KAI
Pupuli Kai (crazy water dog) is everything his name implies. Brian, his foster puppy-papa only has to dawn his swim trunks for Pupuli to start spinning, running around, and smiling that great big pitbull smile. "Get in the truck!" are the words he lives to hear. He eagerly obeys the command and can hardly contain his sixty pounds on the way to the water.

You can find Pupuli on Makaha Beach just before sunset, coconut in mouth, bounding toward the water. He shreds the husk, drops the coconut at Brian's feet and waits - head poised, feet spread, eyes focused - for the coconut to fly through the air in the rolling surf. An experienced beach dog, Pupuli jumps exactly as the wave hits the shore and swims hard and fast for the prize. Even the undercurrent can't stop this determined swimmer.
But not to worry - Pupuli's gentle demeanor and crazy antics always entice his newly found friends to give the coconut a good throw and watch him go to work. Pupuli Kai can be found in many vacation photo albums and myspace pages. He happily greets regular beach goers and joyfully swims with his friends. Even the turtles are curious about this crazy water dog. When the waves are just right a good splash will send him twisting and twirling in the air like a dolphin. He has even taught the other dogs how to jump the waves and body surf!
Pupuli Kai is a simple, loving, obedient boy. He loves to snuggle in your lap - all 60 pounds of him, take a jog, go for a ride, or hang out at home. He is great with children but needs a home without other dogs - or possibly a dominant female only. He needs a job at all times, and would do best with a very active family that can keep him "employed" and continue his training - not to mention daily beach trips! |
