Dog Boarding: Become a host!
If you are an animal lover who wants to host dogs by providing a safe and welcoming boarding environment in your home, become part of the Dogwalker Etc. team!
We look for hosts who primarily work from home or are retired and are looking to supplement their income by providing doggy day care services and/or 24-hour companionship and care for a dog. You don’t have to worry about paying for vet bills, dog food, or other supplies. The owner provides all necessary materials, and you get to enjoy the fun of walking, playing, feeding, and loving the dogs while the owners travel with the secure knowledge their pets are well cared for.
Pets are screened and assigned according to a host’s lifestyle, work obligations, available space, comfort level, children, and other pets to ensure a good match between the visiting pet and host family. You are not obligated to accept every assignment and can care for animals as your schedule permits.
Our ideal host has the following traits and abilities:
- Good customer service skills for communicating with pet owners
- Commitment to a schedule of availability and follow-through with assigned jobs
- Ability to solve problems in unusual or different circumstances
- Physical capability of walking a variety of sizes and breeds of dogs
- Required access to a home computer and cell phone for checking your schedule & to keep in communication with the office
- LOVE OF ANIMALS!
Time Requirements
- Flexible schedules needed to give day care or 24-hour care Monday ~ Friday, weekends, and holidays.
- Please do not apply for the job if you are only available a few hours per week.
- 6 month commitment required.
The Process:
- Fill out and submit the application below. If you meet all criteria for a host, you will be contacted for an interview.
- In-person interview. If approved through the interview process, you will be scheduled for a home visit.
- Home visit. Dogwalker Etc. owner or staff member will conduct a home visit to ensure appropriate qualifications in the home. If your home is approved, you will be scheduled for orientation.
- Mandatory orientation session to learn Dogwalker Etc. policies and procedures.
- Once orientation is complete, you are ready to get your first boarding assignment!
Your application should include:
- A resume detailing your experience with animals (we want to hear about any/all pet experience even if it was for a neighbor/boss/friend), copied and pasted into the body of your message (attachments will not be opened)
- Your phone number(s) and home address
- Any other interesting information that you think sets you apart from
the other candidates
We look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!
