What do you charge?
We provide a wide variety of pet care services with rates for each. To get pricing: you may begin the registration process to review the entire rates sheet; call the office & get a customized quote; email us & get a customized quote for your pets.

What kind of animals does dogwalker etc care for?
Even though our business name is “dog walker” we love all animals equally (hence the etc. part)! We provide pet care for all domestic pets including; cats, rabbits, horses, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, turtles, pigs, mice, fish, etc.

Where are you located?
We come to you so we can service clients island wide! Sitters are assigned clients within their own neighborhoods so long commutes aren’t necessary & they can be available at a moments notice. Our coverage extends to all neighborhoods with the exception of areas west of Ko Olina.

How do I sign up for dog walking or pet sitting service?
Please call the dogwalker etc office (808.384.3164) and we’ll be happy to discuss your pet care needs. After discussing a potential care plan we can arrange a complimentary meeting between you and one of our professional pet sitters or dog walkers in your neighborhood. This meeting is a great opportunity to get to know your sitter & make sure we’re the right fit for your family. You may also familiarize the sitter with your pets and home while going over your pet's routine and possible special dietary and exercise needs.

I tried to call but got your voicemail...will someone call me back today?
We check our messages often throughout the day so if you get the voicemail please know we will call you back soon, we’re most likely out caring for pets. Please leave a detailed message with: your pet info (type, number of pets), possible travel dates, the area of the island you live on & your contact information. We do return ALL of our calls even if we are not able to help you with your specific request. 

Why do I need to register?
We require all new clients to register with our office. Registering takes just minutes with our unique on-line system. All information is keep confidential & not passed along to any third parties. We are committed to keeping all information we receive from our clients and staff confidential and will not disclose any of your personal information including your mailing address. We will only use your information as a means to take good care of your pets and home while you are away. These forms outline our basic business policies, rates, billing procedures, pet emergency care plans & much more.

Are you bonded & insured?
Yes!  All dogwalker etc pet sitters are covered by our liability insurance tailor made for the pet sitting industry & provided by Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Liability insurance protects against any damage to the client’s home and/or pets while in our care. Our crime plus policy (bonding) is provided through Travelers Casualty & Surety Company of America & protects against theft. Each policy is renewed yearly & documentation will happily be provided upon request.

How do I know your sitters are reliable & capable of watching my pets?
Each staff member is interviewed, background & reference checked, and attends the dogwalker etc orientation program upon hire. We attend quarterly staff meetings to stay on the cutting edge of our profession & have other top professionals give informative talks so that we’re always learning how to best care for your pets (local vets, trainers, groomers, etc). Our client interview process before we begin services is your chance to assess the sitter for yourself & make sure we’re the right fit for your family.

Will I get the same sitter each time I travel?
We prefer to have the continuity of the same sitter with the same pets and will do everything we can to make that happen for future sits.  If your primary sitter is not available then a substitute sitter will be available.  We always want you to know who is entering your home & caring for your pets! Therefore if you require a new sitter, another complimentary meeting will be scheduled before any services are provided.

When should I give a key to my sitter?
Most clients give a key to the sitter at the initial interview.  If you are not able to do so at the time of the interview services may be scheduled shortly before you departure (at this visit the care plan can be discussed again, your sitter can get reacquainted with your pets; regular rates apply to this visit). We prefer to keep your key on file for future care needs. We will not leave the key inside the home in case you become delayed & we need to get back in for added visits. Key return may be discussed with your pet sitter directly and arranged at their convenience.

Can you administer medication to my animals while I am away?
Yes. As long as your animals do not pose a threat to the sitter, we are happy to administer medication to your pet. 

How is billing & payment handled?
Invoices are sent before we begin services primarily via email. We can mail a hardcopy to your home if you prefer, please contact the office to set that up. All services are billed before we begin; Monthly scheduled dog walks are billed at the start of each month and should be paid upon receipt. Pet vacation visits and overnight sitting reservations are billed before your services begin & a 50% deposit should be mailed before you depart, the remainder may be paid upon your return. Please do not hand your pet sitter any payment for services, it should be made through the office.

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept PayPal, Visa, Mastercard. A 3% processing fee will be added to your invoice. Please contact the office if you’d like to pay using one of these options.

May I give my sitter or dog walker a gratuity?
Absolutely! You can give gratuities directly to the sitter or you can mail them to the dogwalker etc office.  100% of gratuities go directly to your sitter!

Can I schedule services the same day I need them?
We do ask for 24 hr notice to make reservations that guarantee sitter availability. However we will always try our best to schedule services if possible. Please understand that same day service may not be available due to a sitter’s personal & other work schedules. A small fee will be added for same day visits.

What is your cancellation policy on sits? 
Non-holiday reservations: Please give us 24 hr in advance to cancel & no charges will be applied. Less than 24 hr notice to cancel; all charges apply.
Holidays: We have a 7-day cancellation policy for overnight pet sitting and private boarding.  Please call us 7 days before your departure if you need to cancel in order to get a full refund. Cancellations made less than 7 days before your departure date are subject to a 50% cancellation fee.  Cancellations made less than 3 days before your departure date are subject to a 100% cancellation fee unless we are able to fill the spot that you had previously booked with your sitter.

Do you charge a holiday fee?
We do charge a small additional fee over the major national holidays. This is a way for us to reward the sitters who are giving up their holiday time to work with dogwalker etc..

Can I hire my sitter directly without going through dogwalker etc.?
Please do not place our staff in the uncomfortable position of offering them pet sitting or dog walking employment apart from dogwalker etc LLC. You are given the private cell phone of our sitters as a means to reach them in an emergency while you are away.  Our staff is prohibited from soliciting or accepting employment directly from clients and has signed a contract to this effect.  Thank you for honoring this policy.

Do you board dogs?
We do provide private luxury boarding in the homes of our staff sitters. We only care for one client at a time so 100% love & care goes to your pet. We can board most animals except cats (we think we are happiest kept at home, always!). Primarily we are an “in your home” service, however we are happy to assist you in finding the right situation for your pets while you are away. 

Will your dog walkers take dogs off-leash on walks or for visits in “bark parks”?
Safety is our top priority at dogwalker etc therefore these activities are not permitted while in our care. We know that both running off leash & bark parks have many advantages and we recommend you do these activities with your dogs. Running off leash & in bark parks can leave your dogs vulnerable & because we are not able to control situations that may occur we simply refrain from them.

How can I get a job working with animals at dogwalker etc?
